The Varanasi parliamentary constituency has a total of 19,62,948 voters, including 10,65,485 men, 8,97,328 women, and 135 third-gender individual. The constituency went to polls in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1 and the voter turnout was recorded at 56.3%.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emerged victorious from the Varanasi constituency with a margin of 479,505 votes in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, securing 674,664 votes with a vote share of 63.62% while Shalini Yadav of the SP received 195,159 votes. Congress’ Ajay Rai came third with 152,548 votes
In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, PM Modi defeated AAP candidate Arvind Kejriwal by 371,784 votes. PM secured 581,022 votes, while Arvind Kejriwal received 209,238 votes.
