Yakima County Republicans are rescheduling their annual Lincoln Day dinner for Nov. 8.
The event is being postponed until after the election because Tulsi Gabbard, the event’s keynote speaker and a member of Donald Trump’s transition team, is focusing on relief efforts after Hurricane Helene, according to a press release.
The Lincoln Day dinner was scheduled for Oct. 4. Gabbard, a former U.S. Representative form Hawaii and Democratic candidate for president, was scheduled to speak at the dinner Friday.
Yakima County Republican Party Chairman Matt Brown praised Gabbard for prioritizing disaster relief and service and said she will still speak at the rescheduled dinner.
The Lincoln Dinner will now take place after the Nov. 5 election.
“We’re going to have the largest celebration for America on Nov. 8 right here in Yakima,” Brown said in an email.
