NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Special Cell has seized a staggering 500kg of cocaine valued at over Rs 2,000 crore in one of the largest drug busts in recent history.
As per the police, the consignment was intercepted from a suspected drug cartel operating in the capital. The cocaine, sourced from abroad, was meant for distribution in Delhi and other parts of the country.
“This massive seizure is a significant blow to the narcotics trade and a testament to our relentless efforts to curb drug trafficking,” said additional commissioner Pramod Singh Kushwaha.
The Special Cell, tasked with combating organised crime, conducted a meticulous operation, tracking the cartel’s movements and gathering intelligence before making the arrest.
The seized cocaine, packed in large sacks, was hidden in a truck travelling from a neighbouring state. Police have arrested several individuals, including the alleged kingpin, and are investigating their links to international drug syndicates.
“This haul is equivalent to approximately 5 million doses, potentially saving countless lives from drug addiction,” added the additional commissioner.
