Bank provides family with Grange Fair tent | News, Sports, Jobs

Jersey Shore State Bank is providing the Hanish family with a tent at the Grange Fair.

“Over the last 150 years, the Centre County Grange Fair has ignited fun, nostalgia, and excitement for camping enthusiasts young and old, as the only remaining tenting fair in the nation,” a news release from Jersey Shore State Bank said. “From August 16th-24th, families in 1,000 tents and 1,500 RVs will enjoy live music, food, and of course eight days full of outdoor adventures.”

For the last 11 years, Jersey Shore State Bank has been a Gold Sponsor of the Grange Fair and has donated a tent in the campsite area to a family that could use some time away from life’s hardships, and just enjoy being at the fair.

This year, Jersey Shore State Bank was able to connect with the Hanish Family, thanks to the support of Tides. Tides is an organization whose mission is to provide support to people of all ages who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Jenny Hanish, the mother of the Hanish Family, originally lived in State College, then moved to Florida to work for Disney, the news release said. While in Florida, Jenny met her husband, Bret. Jenny and Bret were together for 21 years (including 11 married) and had four sons. Her sons: Logan (11), Gavin (9), Cody (6), and Tyson (4) love math, music, lunchtime, art, and being with their friends!

Suddenly and unexpectedly, Bret passed away. After her husband’s passing, Jenny and her kids moved back to State College in July 2023 to be closer to her parents and brother for support. Along with the support of her family, Jenny reached out to Tides to help her through her family’s loss.

“The Hanish family remains brave and looks forward to happier times,” the news release said. “Jenny and her children are looking forward to relaxing and having fun at the Grange Fair. During the summer months, Jenny and her kids enjoy swimming, bike riding, soccer matches, and hiking adventures. At the Grange Fair, Jenny and her kids are most looking forward to seeing the animals, the tractor pull, activity stations, live performances, and lots of family time.”
