BENGALURU: Marital row between a couple took an ugly turn, as the wife stabbed her 37-year-old husband with a scissor multiple times as he refused to have dinner, prepared by her mother.
The incident happened around 11.30pm on June 26 in Hosakerehalli in Banashankari 3rd Stage. According to the complaint filed by the injured, Suresh (name changed), his wife Nalini (name changed), 33, stabbed him on his jaw, back and hands.
Suresh told police that on that day, he, along with his wife and toddler son, went to a park. He dropped them home at 9pm and went to a nearby bar & restaurant. He returned home after having food and alcohol at the hotel.
Suresh said: “I was resting on the sofa in the hall when my wife came with the food from her parents’ house, who stay in the adjacent building and forced me to eat. I informed her that I already had dinner and asked her to eat and sleep. She ate and returned the vessels to her mother. Around 11.30pm, while she was going to take a bath, she started scolding me for not eating the food, saying that I do not eat the food she prepares, but when my mother does, I eat.”
Suresh also scolded her, saying not to drag his mother into the issue. “In the fit of rage, she got a scissor and tried to stab me in the neck. I tried to avoid it and received a stab on my jaw,” he said.
“I asked her to stop the assault and behave herself as our son was sleeping. But she continued to stab on my hands. When I was walking out of the house to save myself, she stabbed me in the back. I rushed to her parents’ house and complained to her mother. She also scolded me and asked me to file a complaint, if I wish,” he added.
He went to a nearby hospital, got treatment and lodged a complaint on June 28.
A senior officer said a case has been registered against Nalini under IPC sections 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapon or means), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation). “We have issued notice to her to appear for interrogation,” said the police officer.
Meanwhile, Nalini filed a complaint against Suresh at Basavanagudi women police station. Police summoned Suresh for questioning. The couple made allegations against each other. Police personnel counselled the couple and sent them home.
Suresh, a native of Tamil Nadu, runs a hotel in Rajarajeshwarinagar, and had met Nalini through a common friend. They fell in love and got married in 2021.
