Families from across the borough gathered at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children in Bayside on Sunday, Oct. 27, for the annual “Monster Mash,” a Halloween-themed event aimed at raising essential funds for children with complex medical needs.
The day featured music, games, trunk-or-treat, raffles, a costume contest, and a special visit from Mr. Met, providing entertainment for all ages while supporting St. Mary’s specialized programs and services.
“Our Monster Mash is an opportunity to come together as a community to support the children and families we serve and to celebrate the beginning of fall,” said Dr. Edwin Simpser, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children. “The funds raised at this year’s event will go directly toward enhancing the care and services that allow our young patients to thrive, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this event such a success.”
Funds raised from the event will go directly toward enhancing long-term and rehabilitative care provided by St. Mary’s.
As one of the few healthcare systems in the country dedicated to serving children with complex medical conditions, St. Mary’s has been a lifeline for New York’s most critically ill and injured children for over 150 years. The healthcare system operates an in-patient hospital facility in Bayside and offers home care services and community programs, ensuring comprehensive support for families and their children.
Since its founding in the 1870s, St. Mary’s has led the way in pediatric healthcare, offering specialized rehabilitation, educational programs, and life-sustaining care for children with medically complex conditions. The “Monster Mash” event brought the community together in celebration and demonstrated the shared commitment to helping young patients thrive against challenging odds.
