Wait for CUET-UG results continues: May impact DU’s academic calender, say officials | Delhi News

Students continue to wait for their CUET score, the key to securing undergraduate admissions in most central universities across the country. Top varsities like Delhi University said it may impact their academic calendar.

As reported by the Indian Express last week, as the National Testing Agency (NTA) grapples with paper leak allegations involving NEET-UG and UGC-NET, the controversy could delay the Central University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) results.

While the NTA’s information bulletin provides June 30 as the date for the declaration of CUET-UG results, a senior official at the agency had said the deadline, in the present scenario, is unlikely to be met. The official added that the exam’s provisional answer key, in all probability, will only be released next week. After which, the agency will take “a week to 10 days” to release the final results.

Speaking to The Indian Express, DU’s Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, acknowledged that the delay might have an impact on the academic year, originally set to begin August 1. “The answer key for CUET-UG has not been released yet, which is leading to a delay in the admission process. As DU has no other system but to rely upon the NTA to release the results for CUET, we will not be able to proceed until they announce it,” Gandhi stated.

Central University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) results are essential to secure admission at Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the national capital, apart from other Central universities.

CUET-UG serves as the primary admission test for undergraduate programmes at 46 Central universities. This year’s exam, conducted in both online and pen-and-paper formats, took place from May 15 to May 31.

The delay will affect the admission calendars of all the participating universities, including DU, which planned to open its phase two admissions portal by July 2. The university has 71,000 seats to fill based on CUET-UG scores.

JNU, which uses CUET-UG scores for admissions to certain language programmes and its BSc-MSc Integrated programme in Ayurveda Biology, is also bracing for potential disruptions. A JNU official earlier told The Indian Express, “If there is a delay in the CUET result announcement, there will be repercussions on the admissions cycle of the entire country and not just JNU.”
