Voting took place for the remaining 11 seats, including five from Bihar, four from Odisha, and two from Haryana. With results for the voting coming in, the NDA has won 8 seats – five in Bihar and three in Odisha including the Independent candidate backed by the party. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) secured one seat in Odisha, while counting for two seats in Haryana was put on hold over allegations of irregularities by both BJP and Congress.

Why is counting on hold in Haryana?
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to the Election Commission, alleging an “attempt at interference” in Haryana.
“There is a clear attempt to interfere with the integrity of the election and it must be stopped/ redressed by the ECI immediately,” Kharge said, seeking time for a Congress delegation to meet with the poll body.
Meanwhile, the BJP has flagged the alleged violation of vote secrecy by two Congress leaders in the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections. “Two Congress MLAs did not have their ballot folded as it should have been, thus violating the secrecy of their vote. We have complained to the Election Commission,” Haryana minister Krishan Kumar Bedi said.
Allegations of irregularities in Odisha
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik alleged irregularities during voting. The former Odisha CM claimed that election norms were violated after a legislator was issued a second ballot paper.
Speaking to ANI, Naveen Patnaik said that the MLA from the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency had made an error while casting her vote. Patnaik alleged that the polling officer accepted the vote despite the mistake and subsequently issued a second ballot paper, which he claimed was against election rules
The term of 37 members who were elected from Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana will conclude in the month of April, vacating the seats for new members to be elected.
In this election, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was aiming to further strengthen its position in the Rajya Sabha. The NDA, which governs six of the 10 states going to the polls, currently holds 134 seats in the 234-member House. The opposition INDIA bloc, which is in power in four of the states voting today, currently has 80 members in the Upper House.
