US President Joe Biden has broached the possibility of a power tussle if the Democrats retained the White House during the upcoming elections. The POTUS cited several comments made by Donald Trump to insist that he was ‘not confident’ about a peaceful transition in case the Republican leader lost a second US election. The developments came mere weeks after Biden dropped out of the poll race against Trump in favour of current deputy Kamala Harris.
“If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all. He means what he says. We don’t take him seriously. He means it…all the stuff about…If we lose, there’ll be a bloodbath, it’ll have to be a stolen election,” Biden told CBS News during his first interview since dropping out of the Presidential race.
Meanwhile Trump has repeatedly insisted that he would accept the results of a “fair and legal and good election” — noting that his defeat was rather unlikely in such a scenario.
“We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those guys if I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole – that’s gonna be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it,” CNN had quoted him as saying during a rally in March.
Biden also brought up various assertions made by Trump to underscore his concern. The President also previously cited the fact that Trump’s supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6. Meanwhile Trump has continued to claim over the past four years that the 2020 election was ‘stolen’ due to widespread voter fraud. He also promised (on several occasions) to free people charged with crimes related to the January 6 Capitol riots on his first day back at the White House.
