Suresh Gopi, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) sole Lok Sabha MP from Kerala, took charge as the Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday. Soon after assuming the office, Gopi said he would have to study the tourism ministry and the terrain of the country to be able to do justice to his role.
Talking to news agency ANI, Gopi said he has to be made knowledgeable about the capacity of his chair. “…the areas which are available for me to penetrate and then set a platter for which I have to study the ministry and the terrain of the whole country…”

As MoS Tourism, Gopi said he has a huge responsibility, and his duties would include identifying the prime spots in the country for tourist activities.
For now, the PM has spoken to him only about Kerala, he added.
The BJP MP also hold the charge of MoS for Tourism and Petroleum.
Gopi also said he has been given a big responsibility and his new role as a member of Narendra Modi-led government is due to the support of the people from all walks of life.

The actor-cum-politician said he has many connections with people and temples, and he has taken all that into account. “People from all walks of life supported me. I cannot cut all that away. I have taken up a responsibility. I have reached here with everyone’s support.”
Earlier today, he asserted that films are definitely one of his top priorities, and he believes he will be given the space to pursue his passion.

“Films are one of my priorities. I think I will be given this space. I told them. My Prime Minister and the Home Minister will find a method by which I will not ditch my passion,” Gopi told ANI.
His remarks came amid speculations claiming the actor-turned-politician “wants to quit” from the Council of Ministers as he “wants to do films”.
