1. Spaghetti

This is a kind of long, thin, cylindrical pasta from Italy, which is made out of durum wheat semolina. Spaghetti is commonly made with tomato based sauces like marinara or bolognese but may also be enjoyed in a garlic and olive oil sauce when making aglio e olio.

2. Ramen Noodles

Possibly some of the most popular noodles there are, these are thin, wheat-based noodles, often slightly curly. Enjoyed in a number of broths, like shoyu, miso or tonkotsu, this Japanese delicacy can have multiple toppings of meats, eggs, vegetables and seaweed!

3. Udon Noodles

These noodles are thick and chewy and are mostly wheat-based. Enjoyed in both hot broths or even stir fried dishes, udon noodles are extremely versatile and delicious. Popular toppings include meat, fish cakes or even tempura! A wholesome meal for sure!

4. Rice Noodles

Ranging from thin vermicelli to wide, flat noodles,  rice noodles are used in various dishes like Vietnamese pho, Thai pad thai and Malaysian laksa. They are also a key ingredient in fresh spring rolls and stir-fries, giving texture and a chewy bite to your dish!

5. Lo Mein Noodles

Thicker than ramen but thinner than udon, lo mein is mostly stir-fried with vegetables, meats and sauces. These noodles are quite common in Chinese-American takeout dishes and are enjoyed for their soft texture. They also have the ability to soak in a lot of flavour!

6. Soba Noodles

These are thin noodles made from buckwheat flour or wheat flour. Most noodles are enjoyed with hot broths but soba noodles can be had with cold broths, too! These noodles are mostly enjoyed with soy sauce, green onions and nori!

7. Glass Noodles

As the name suggests, these noodles are transparent and are made from mung bean starch or sweet potato starch. Used in a lot of Asian dishes, glass noodles are a must-try in Chinese hot pots. They are known for their slippery texture and chewy bite!

8. Egg Noodles

Made from wheat flour and eggs, egg noodles have a yellow color and a chewy texture. They are used in a wide range of dishes, like chow mein, wonton soup and Cantonese-style noodles. They are versatile and can be boiled, stir-fried or added to soups.
