UK-based chef and food blogger Jake Dryan has featured this popular combo in his “regional cooking of India series” on Instagram, offering a tantalising glimpse into its delicious preparation. Jake Dryan embarked on his cooking journey by slicing potatoes into long strips and heating a generous amount of mustard oil in a pan. Mustard and fenugreek seeds were added next, frying the potato strips until they turned golden-brown. He then added green chillies, turmeric, and salt. Moving on, the food vlogger turned his attention to preparing plain yellow dal, a dish typical of Bihar. He infused cumin seeds, hing, along with garlic, ginger, and dried chilli to enhance the spicy flavour. Finishing touches included chilli powder and grated onions.
