5 Unusual Uses of Potato That You Have Never Considered:

1. Cleaning Glasses:

We just hate when the glass windows or the eyeglasses fog up. Right? It not only affects the complete look but also disrupts your vision. What do you do then? The usual reply will be, cleaning with a damp and dry cloth respectively. But trust us, it doesn’t give you the crystal clear vision that you are expecting. Instead, we suggest cutting a potato into two halves and using one to rub the glassware. Follow it up by rubbing it with a dry cloth. This will help prevent condensation, resulting in a crystal clear, fog-free view.

2. Shining Your Shoes:

Running out of shoe polish and have no time to get another from your nearby store? Fret not! A potato can come to your instant rescue. You just need to cut a potato in half and rub it directly on the areas of the shoes that you want to polish and shine. Next, keep it like that for around five to seven minutes and wipe it with a clean cloth or soft shoe brush. You will immediately find the dust being removed, leaving you with a shining pair of shoes.

People widely use potatoes for natural and organic dyes. The best part is, when you are done with one design, you can slice off the part and create another design on the leftover potato.

4. Use It As Fertilizer:

Did you know, potatoes can be a good source of food for your plants too? Some gardeners use the vegetable to fertilize certain plants. Besides adding its peels to your compost heap, you also use it as a direct food source for your plants. All you need to do is, make a hole in a potato (preferably a larger one) and place the stem of a plant inside. Then plant the whole thing in a pot and let it grow.

5. Remove Broken Bulbs:

A broken lightbulb is a very common phenomenon in every household. But what comes as a struggle is removing the broken part of the bulb from the socket. It can be risky, leading to deep cuts on your fingers. Guess what, we have a perfect solution for this! Cut a potato in half, then press gently onto the remaining glass and carefully unscrew.
