Besides being extremely flavourful, the chicken tikka recipe is super versatile too. All you need to do is play with the ingredients and prepare something new every single time. And the fact that it is super healthy, gives chicken tikka an additional edge. The dish is roasted, not fried, which helps control the amount of oil you are consuming. Moreover, it is loaded with various essential nutrients including protein and fibre that keep you full, without the risks of being bloated. If you thought sharabi chicken tikka will literally make you drunk, then you are absolutely mistaken. We agree the dish contains alcohol, but heating it only leaves a smokey flavour in the dish. So, you can easily have sharabi chicken tikka at parties, without the fear of getting intoxicated.
This sharabi chicken tikka recipe has been shared by Chef Anahita Dhondy on her Instagram handle. To start with the dish, cut the chicken into small pieces and marinate with salt, lemon juice, chili powder, and ginger-garlic paste. Marinate the chicken well and let it sit for a minimum of two hours. Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together hung curd, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala, achaar oil, lemon juice, and kasuri methi.
Next, add this curd mixture to the marinated chicken pieces. Alongside, add 15ml whiskey and 30ml rum, and then mix it well and let it sit for at least another hour. The longer the marination the nicer the chicken will look. Finally, in a grill pan, add some butter or oil, and grill the marinated chicken pieces until they are nice and charred. Plate them and serve with sliced onions, some mint chutney, and a sprinkle of chaat masala. That’s it! You have sharabi chicken tikka ready to be relished.
