Among the season’s buzziest new releases is Sam Bahadur, directed by Meghna Gulzar and starring Vicky Kaushal as the protagonist. Popular dairy brand Amul recently shared a creative topical to mark the Bollywood film’s release. Wondering why? The company decided to celebrate it as the movie is a much-awaited “Biographical war drama on India’s first field marshal”. In signature Amul style, the illustration incorporated some wordplay in the form of a ‘punny’ reference to its butter. Amul’s tribute had not gone unnoticed. Vicky Kaushal himself has responded to the brand’s quirky illustration.
In the topical, we see a sketch of the titular personality in the centre. He stands with what seems to be a resolute stance, with one leg resting on a rock. He holds a stick in one hand and clutches a slice of buttered bread in the other. In the background, figures representing other soldiers are observed. They are also holding buttered slices in their hands. The topical bears the words, “SAM MASKASHAW.” This is a butter-related twist (“maska” referring to the dairy product) on the character’s name: Sam Manekshaw.
Leading star Vicky Kaushal reshared the post on his own Instagram handle, thanking the brand for its tribute. He provided a fitting caption that also used wordplay, stating, “Iss Amul-ya pyaar ke liye shukriya, Sweetie” [“Thank you for this precious love, Sweetie”.] Take a look at the post below:
