Anasuya Sengupta has made history by becoming the first Indian to win a ‘Best Actress’ award at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. At the 2024 edition, the actress won the prize in the “Un Certain Regard” segment for her lead role in the film The Shameless. It has been written and directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Constantin Bojanov. Anasuya’s victory is being celebrated across the country as a moment of national pride. Several Bollywood actors and celebrities have congratulated her on social media. Amul, the popular dairy brand, also released a special topical to mark the occasion.

In the topical, Anasuya is depicted alongside the Amul girl. Both are seen holding up a slice of buttered bread in one hand. Anasuya is holding a scroll in the other, representing her Cannes accolade. The words “Cannesuya Sengupta” are written on top. That’s not all the wordplay employed by Amul. Making a reference to the film she starred in, the text near the bottom of the topical says, “Amul. Indulge Shamelessly”. In the caption, the brand wrote “#Amul Topical: Celebrating first Indian actor to win Best Actress at Cannes Film Festival!” Take a look below:
