Luxury brand Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna has expanded its men’s and women’s occasion wear offering with new couture line ‘Nocturnum’. The celestial inspired collection offers a range of traditional and fusion style silhouettes ahead of the autumn festive season.
“Nocturnum is a collection of the night,” said designers Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna in a press release. “We imagined what falling stars would look like if they streaked across the night sky and transformed into blooms before they met the surface of our planet. This is a collection about structure breathtaking down to emotion, birthing a collection that pushes the boundaries of haute couture. Our patterns draw from matadors, stars, and pixelated flowers, building kaleidoscopic botanicals that merge the past, present, and future.”
The couture collection features as its centrepiece a specially designed star-centric pattern which radiates from a central point. The pattern symbolises the interconnectedness of the earth as well as the power of starlight, according to the designers.
Textiles which feature in the collection range from velvet and silk satins to tulles, designed to play with shadow and light. While dramatic gowns are the order of the day for women, the men’s offering follows a traditional silhouette and longline jackets are modernised with intricate cut-out designs.
