Jason Kelce continues to get by with a little wardrobe help from his wife. The former Philadelphia Eagles star gave credit where credit was due after Kylie Kelce provided a key assist in preparing him for a recent golf outing.
Jason, 36, made a surprise appearance at the 2024 American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on Wednesday, spending a few hours hitting golf balls on the driving range at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. The NFL alum was dressed appropriately for the occasion in a smart blue polo and slim-fitting khaki pants with a belt.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), NBC Sports joked that “@JasonKelce brought khakis for Jason.” The quip is a reference to a well-known exchange among listeners of Jason and Travis Kelce‘s New Heights podcast, in which Travis roasted his older brother for relying on wife Kylie to pack his clothes for an outing.
“Why didn’t Jason bring jeans for Jason?” Travis famously quipped on the podcast after learning that Jason arrived on the red carpet for his Kelce documentary premiere in shorts and flip flops because “Kylie was going to bring the jeans” and “Kylie was late.”
Apparently not much has changed, as Jason poked fun at himself in response to NBC Sports’ post.
“I mean, if I’m being honest Kylie went out and bought them last minute and packed them for me,” he wrote of the new khakis.
Jason and Kylie have been married since 2018 and share three daughters: 4-year-old Wyatt, 3-year-old Elliotte and 1-year-old Bennett.
Jason is in good company as the 2024 American Century Championship officially kicks off on Thursday. He’s competing against fellow athletes Trevor Lawrence, Alex Rodriguez, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen and more, as well as stars including Colin Jost, Carson Daly and Dylan Dryer. This year’s event is to honor former major league pitcher Tim Wakefield and his wife, Stacy, both of whom died of cancer in the last year.
Jason’s appearance comes amid his hiatus from New Heights as Travis is busy with the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp.
“We got a nice couple months off from podcasting because, I guess, in three weeks time Travis will be in the middle of training camp,” Jason kicked off last week’s show. “And let me tell you, not enough time to do a podcast, especially the best podcast in the world. He’s gonna be busy focusing on football, getting in shape for this upcoming season. So we’re gonna be off for about two months.”
As for when the duo will pick things back up, Travis offered a clue.
“I’m down to pick it up once we’re done with training camp,” he said.
Jason added that after consulting with the podcast’s producer, the end of August could be a possibility.
The Chiefs kick off training camp on July 21. Their first preseason game is slated for Aug. 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, followed by two more preseason games against the Detroit Lions (Aug. 17) and Chicago Bears (Aug. 22) before officially beginning their 2024 regular season against the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of the AFC Championship Game on Sept. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
Travis and the entire team will be available to provide fans with autographs on the first two days of Chiefs training camp, July 21 and 22. After those dates, position groups are made available to sign autographs on different practice dates. The full team will be made available for fan autographs again on July 27 before Travis’ position group (wide receivers and tight ends) is slated to be made available on July 28.
In the meantime, Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift, is scheduled to continue her Eras Tour overseas with dates in Germany on July 23, 24, 27 and 28.
As for Jason, he’s preparing to join ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown after retiring from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year.
