Wearables and audio brand Boat announced that it has manufactured over five crore products in India. The business now manufactures between 70% and 75% of its audio and smart wearable products domestically as part of its commitment to the government-backed ‘Make in India’ initiative.
“Crossing the five crore mark in Made in India products is a momentous occasion for Boat,” said the business’ co-founder and CEO Sameer Mehta in a press release. “It reflects our unwavering commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and our confidence in the capabilities of Indian manufacturing. We are proud to contribute to the nation’s economic growth and create employment opportunities. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, partners, and the entire Boat head family.”
Boat has formed a joint venture with Dixon Technologies, Califonix and this has played a pivotal role in scaling up production within India, according to the business. The joint venture has also created a wide range of new employment opportunities in the country as well as enabling Boat to ameliorate its supply chain operations.
The business announced that it is dedicated to contributing to the nation’s economic growth and aims to continue to focus on domestic production as it grows. Boat also plans to continue to centre its research and development activities in India after launching Boat Labs as an innovation centre.
