The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s Special Economic Zone sub-committee collaborated with the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery Udupi to promote technology in jewellery manufacturing with an intensive Computer Aided Design training programme.
The GJEPC and IIJG Udupi’s CAD rendering training programme comprised a 40 hour online course which took students through using and mastering Keyshot CAD software, the GJEPC announced on its website. The course ran as part of the GJEPC’s work towards upskilling the Indian jewellery industry to bring global recognition and in turn boost exports.
“The impact of this training was evident in the impressive student works produced,” announced the GJEPC on its website. “Participants created high-quality renderings and animations, showcasing their newly acquired skills. These works, formatted in true colour with alpha transparency and varying resolutions, highlighted the advanced techniques and attention to detail imparted during the course.”
Students undertook four hours of daily classes presented via Zoom and also received further support via WhatsApp. The course’s curriculum included advanced editing techniques for diamond rendering in CAD, creating light sources, and creating realistic gold colour renderings among others. Following the recent conclusion of the course, the GJEPC reported that it received demand for more in depth and in person sessions.
