India’s leading fashion designers along with fashion associations like Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and government officials will be participating at the upcoming BRICS Fashion Summit scheduled to be held in Moscow this month.
During the BRICS Summit last year, India and Russia had signed an agreement facilitating an exchange of designers between the two countries.
This year, BRICS Summit will host a large-scale international exhibition ‘Heritage,’ where more than 40 designers from different countries including India will showcase 150 unique pieces that represent the traditional crafts of their nations.
Commenting on the fashion summit, Sunil Sethi, chairman of the FDCI in a statement said, “The BRICS+ Fashion Summit serves as an ideal platform to deepen the bilateral relations between India and Russia in the fashion sector. The Summit offers a space for cross-cultural learning, co-design opportunities, and joint ventures that can enhance trade relations and the flow of fashion between the two nations.”
“With both countries focusing on innovation and sustainability, this Summit can foster long-lasting relationships that contribute to the broader development of the global fashion industry,” he added.
Alongside the Summit, Indian designers will also showcase at the Moscow Fashion Week scheduled to take place from October 4 to 9.
