“The Daily Show” on Monday night spent nearly 10 minutes trolling one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters: Elon Musk.
“He’s so rich he bought Twitter just to drive it into the ground for his own personal pleasure,” correspondent Michael Kosta said. “And now he’s thinking, ‘Well what if I did the same with America?’”
Musk has been giving away $1 million a day in sweepstakes as part of his effort on behalf of Trump.
“Wow, Elon’s giving a million dollars to his fans,” Kosta said. “Now they can afford the best anime girlfriend pillow money can buy.”
Kosta went over how Musk has been using his platform on X to amplify false and misleading information in tweets that’s had a collective total of more than 3 billion views and counting.
Kosta called it a “huge amount of propaganda” that’s seen not only by Musk’s followers but is also forced into the feeds of users who don’t follow him.
Fellow “Daily Show” correspondent Ronny Chieng joined the segment to reveal what he said was the real reason for Musk’s antics.
“Don’t overthink this, Michael: All Elon’s trying to do is make a friend,” Chieng said, dismissing Musk as “a loser with no friends.”
Chieng described how all of Musk’s previous attempts to make friends have failed.
“He bought Twitter to make friends and what happened? We all left Twitter,” he said. “He built self-driving cars so the cars would be his friend and what happened? The cars blew themselves up.”
Kosta tried to move on, but Chieng wasn’t done:
“This man is a fucking loser, Kosta. His group chat is him and a burner phone he bought so he wouldn’t be alone in the group chat. The only reason he wants to go to Mars is so that he can be first human to meet aliens because he knows that once the aliens meet other humans they’ll be like, ‘Oh wait, this one fucking sucks.’”
Chieng offered some evidence that Musk has no friends: the Cybertruck.
“A real friend would have told him, ‘Hey bro, that’s the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen in my life ― you should punch yourself in the dick,’” he said.
