The hotly-anticipated and freshly cooked third season of The Bear is almost ready to stream on Hulu, and its lead actor, Jeremy Allen White, cannot wait for audiences to witness it. White plays Carmen ‘Bear’ Berzatto, once the best chef in the world, who has come back to Chicago to save his family’s failing sandwich shop after the unexpected death of his brother. The Bear‘s previous two seasons captured audiences’ hearts, and gave them endless flutters of adrenaline, as the show was dubbed one of the most stressful series ever made.
Jeremy Allen White recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss the upcoming third season. During the conversation, the actor revealed that he’s only just watched the latest season, receiving a screener the day before he appeared on the show, and binge-watched seven episodes in one sitting. Despite the actor’s reservations about watching his own performances, White said he lost himself to the show’s third season. He explained:
“I usually, I have a very hard time watching myself on camera. I don’t do it. I don’t like it. It’s very difficult for me. But I have to say, I started watching the screener – I usually wait a very long time, or I don’t watch at all – but i started… and I watched seven episodes in one sitting.”
Binge-watching has become the new normal for TV, with most streaming services now choosing to release all episodes of their new shows at once for fans to devour. Jeremy Allen White justified his binge of The Bear, praising the upcoming third season and the show’s creator, Christopher Storer. He continued:
“Because it’s just, it’s so good. Everybody’s so good. Chris Storer, our showrunner, he keeps messing with what the structure of television can be. I feel like Season 1 was so different to Season 2, and Season 3 is even stranger, and more joyful, and anxiety ridden. But it’s beautiful.”
As well as dominating the cultural zeitgeist following its release, with general audiences now understanding the true stress of working in hospitality and in a kitchen, The Bear also dominated the minds of critics and Award Show committees. Season 1 holds a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Season 2 inching just behind at 99%. The show also swept through the 2023/24 awards season, earning White an Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the show’s second season.

During his conversation with Stephen Colbert, Jeremy Allen White discussed meeting some of his acting heroes at awards shows. The actor said that he’ll never get used to the level of success he’s achieved following his leading role in The Bear. White said:
“I’ve been really lucky. I’ve been invited to a couple of [awards shows] now, and got lucky enough to take home some awards, which has been so exciting. But, no, you never get used to it. You never get used to the people that are there. And there’s always this moment of, of course you want to hear your name, and you want to get an award- it’s all very exciting. But there’s also that voice in your head that’s like, ‘If I don’t win, then at least I don’t have to go speak in front of everybody’, and that’s kind of nice to.”
