Are all those rumors about Taylor Swift joining the MCU finally coming true?
A new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer dropped on Tuesday, giving fans a first look at a mysterious character that fans are speculating could be Swift — or, alternately, star Ryan Reynolds‘ wife, Blake Lively.
The character is only seen briefly, from the neck down, but is sporting long blonde har and and a skintight Deadpool suit.
“So we’re all in agreeance it would absolutely be Ryan Reynolds humor to have Taylor Swift play Lady Deadpool right?” said one fan on X (formerly Twitter).
“Oh that tease for Lady Deadpool was pretty….swift,” added another.
“Everyone debating on whether lady deadpool is played by blake lively or taylor swift but it would be way funnier if it’s just also ryan,” still another fan joked.
It’s a bit of a long shot, but there’s plenty of evidence to support the speculation, not the least of which being that Swift was joined at a Kansas City Chiefs football game last fall — supporting boyfriend Travis Kelce, of course — by not just Reynolds and Lively, but also Hugh Jackman and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy.
Swift has long been rumored to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe — in recent years, most speculation has centered on the X-Men character, Dazzler. The fact that X-Men characters have popped up in previous Deadpool movies helps the case, but it’s still far from a home run.
“That is hardly confirmed nor denied in this interview,” Levy joked with ET when asked if Swift was in the movie earlier this year. “I’m going to literally walk about of the frame and save myself, otherwise Ryan’s taking a hit [out] on me.”
“All that’s known is that I went to a football game, and those hours were well-documented and that’s all I’m gonna say,” he added. “What can I say? I think intrigue is fun.”
Levy previously told ET last November that he found the many, varied Deadpool 3 casting rumors to be “hilarious, and also really useful because now there’s no way for people to tell what’s real and what’s not. So I can just sit back and just let the wave of accuracy and falsehood wash over me.”
Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters July 26.
