Everyone’s Going To Want The Adoring Fan In Their Crew Thanks To This Starfield Mod

Summary

  • The Adoring Fan in Starfield was initially somewhat useless, but a mod by SushiSquid makes him more valuable in ship mechanics and space combat.
  • Increased skills like Payloads and Targeting Control Systems significantly enhance the Adoring Fan’s abilities, making him an asset to players.
  • Stealth players should be wary as the Adoring Fan now makes noise in ground combat, but overall, assigning him to players’ main ship proves to be a beneficial choice.

Starfield‘s Adoring Fan was a fun addition to the Settled Systems, being a call back to past Bethesda titles, but aside from the novelty of having someone nearby who will boost players’ egos at any given opportunity – which can be nice after getting defeated in battle – the character was fairly useless. The Adoring Fan could be unlocked through the “Hero Worshiped” Trait, which meant players would get an additional crew member extremely early into the game, but considering how there would soon be other options for companions and crew members who were more useful in combat, the odds are that the Adoring Fan would soon be sent to manage an outpost somewhere.

SushiSquid’s mod “Adoring Fan Crew” -which can be downloaded through Bethesda Creations for both PC and Xbox – changes this, making the Adoring Fan far more useful in other areas of the game. The main way it does this is by adding ranked skills that are more in line with the companions from Constellation, increasing areas to make him more of an all-rounder in terms of gameplay.

Starfield’s Hero Worshipped Trait brings back an Oblivion favorite. The Adoring Fan may seem like a harmless joke at first, but has his downsides.

What Are The Adoring Fan’s New Skills?

The Adoring Fan’s Skills Mostly Improve Ships

The new skills added by SushiSquid seem to make the Adoring Fan more of an asset in regard to Starfield‘s ship mechanics, as he adds 10% ship cargo capacity, boosts ship speed, and adds engine power. He even has a custom Targeting Controls Systems skill at level 4, which adds 15% targeting mode cost reduction, 15% damage, and 15% recharge to all ship weapons, making the Adoring Fan an asset when it comes to space combat.

A full breakdown of the Adoring Fan’s new skills is as follows:

Skill

Level

Perks

Payloads

1

Adds 10% ship cargo capacity.

Weightlifting

2

Unchanged, can carry the same amount of items for players.

Piloting

3

+30% ship speed and 1 engine power

Targeting Control Systems

4

Adds 15% targeting mode cost reduction, 15% damage, and 15% recharge to all ship weapons.

It is worth noting, however, that the Adoring Fan is now slightly worse in ground combat because he makes noise while running, so those who are working on a stealth run of the game should probably leave him behind. With these new perks, he certainly seems to be of value if assigned to players’ main ships, so if players want to make the most out of this mod, bringing him into combat on the ground with them isn’t essential.

Whereas the Adoring Fan used to be a novelty, this new mod certainly makes using up a Trait slot to acquire him feel more worthwhile. Hopefully, now Bethesda’s Creation Kit has been made available for Starfield modders and will allow them to create new content that should be more readily supported than before, both PC and Xbox players can look forward to a constant flow of user-created content that should expand upon Bethesda’s original vision and either overhaul or enhance elements of the game going forward.
