One fan project has reimagined the Attack On Titan series with visuals so detailed and exquisitely directed that it’s set an impossibly high bar for any future adaptation of the series. The beloved anime concluded with an ending that had many viewers saying that Attack on Titan is one of the greatest anime ever made. Over the years, it gained worldwide popularity and a fanbase comprised of incredibly talented artists, one of which took one and half years to create the best-looking AoT short film the world may ever see.
The Attack on Titan series is well known for its incredible plot and nail-biting intensity, which takes place in a mysterious world overrun by monstrous giants of varying sizes. As the story progresses, questions are answered with shocking reveals that often bring about more complex questions. Still, the series is no stranger to grandiose battles and powerful imagery that visual artist xieboli captured masterfully.
Within the forty-second Attack on Titan short film, its visuals, music, and sound direction grip viewers as tight as the monstrosities in the series. The video can be seen on xieboli’s YouTube channel. It includes brief but vital moments throughout the series, starring monumental characters like Eren’s Attack Titan, the Beast Titan, and even a scene of the fierce battle between Eren and the Armored Titan.
The incredibly talented 3D artist who goes by XieBoli has shared their impressive artwork on their X account. Their account expressed that the Attack on Titan short film was created with a combination of both 2D and 3D animation techniques. Many of the series’ original framing and storyboards are painstakingly recreated with a stunning amount of detail that respects the source material while arguably looking better than ever before.
While the talented artist made a point to thank supporters at the end of the video, XieBoli seemingly handled every aspect of the creation of the short film, except for the music. The direction, character modeling, lighting, animation, and more were all done by them. The video may be brief, but in a short time, it effectively captures the vibe, intensity, and excitement that helped make Attack on Titan so popular. That accomplishment alone should be celebrated and make XieBoli a strong candidate for anyone wanting to hire a talented visual artist.
Attack on Titan‘s anime was filled with astonishing action, heart-breaking plot twists, and fascinating characters that didn’t all translate nearly as effectively in the two live-action films that attempted to adapt the series’ storyline. Anime production studios, MAPPA and Wit, earned great acclaim for their adaptions of mangaka Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan series. Still, fans like XieBoli and their jaw-dropping fan projects prove how inspirational a beloved series can be and how much it can push artists to level up their own skills to create future works that others can enjoy and get inspired by.
