The Umbrella Academy: Superhero Show Is Most Popular On Netflix

“The Umbrella Academy” is currently the most popular show on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The fourth and final season of the superhero series premiered on Aug. 8 with the simultaneous release of all six episodes on the streaming service. Based on a comic book series by Gerard Way, the show focuses on an adoptive family of misfit superheroes who work together to save the world.

“The Umbrella Academy” features Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Mary J. Blige and Kate Walsh. Although the first three seasons were critically acclaimed, the final installment has received more mixed reviews.

The second most popular show on Max at the moment is “Taken Together: Who Killed Lyric and Elizabeth?”

This true crime docuseries dives into the abduction and murder of two cousins in Iowa in 2012. Told over three episodes, “Taken Together” features interviews with officers who worked on the case and family members of the two victims, 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins.

Another true crime docuseries is trending on Hulu.

“At Witt’s End: The Hunt for a Killer” explores the mystery surrounding the 1994 murder of 19-year-old Melissa Wit. The cold case gets a closer look after new information emerges that could help lead to answers.

“Mr. Throwback” premiered on Peacock on Aug. 8. The new mockumentary stars Adam Pally as a struggling sports memorabilia dealer who reconnects with his childhood friend and basketball teammate Steph Curry.

Curry, who also serves as executive producer, appears on the show as a fictionalized version of himself alongside “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim as his manager.

The Apple TV+ show “Sunny” is a black comedy based on Colin O’Sullivan’s 2018 novel “The Dark Manual.”

Rashida Jones plays Suzie Sakamoto, an American woman living in Kyoto with her husband and son until they mysteriously disappear. Grieving the loss of her family, she receives a domestic robot to help her through this time.
