Bestselling author Stephen King over the weekend revealed the one possible plot twist in the Donald Trump presidency that truly gives him chills.
“The worst thing that I could think of is that this guy would get a third term because he’s basically an idiot, isn’t he?” King told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi in an interview that aired Saturday. “I mean, he doesn’t read.”
King, a longtime critic of the president, said Trump believes he can’t do anything wrong.
“That is a dangerous thing,” King said. “He is basically, I don’t want to use the word ‘crazy,’ because I don’t really think that he is, but he’s certainly dangerous.”
Velshi had asked King about a Q&A with The Guardian last month in which the author was asked to give the Trump presidency an ending.
A good ending, he said in the interview, would be impeachment.
“I would love to see him retired, let’s put it that way,” King said. “The bad ending would be that he gets a third term and takes things over completely. It’s a horror story either way. Trump is a horror story, isn’t he?”
King’s newest book, “Never Flinch,” came out in May. He also has multiple projects on the small screen, including “The Institute,” recently out on MGM+, and “It: Welcome To Derry” on HBO next month, as well as film adaptations of “The Long Walk” in theaters later this week and “The Running Man” coming out in November.
