The Franchise: This New Satirical Comedy Is A Top Show On Max

“The Franchise” is currently one of the most popular shows on Max, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The new satirical comedy revolves around a film crew working on a second-rate superhero movie franchise. Released on Oct. 6, the series has received generally positive reviews from critics, many of whom noted its not-so-veiled references to Marvel Studios.

“The Franchise” stars Himesh Patel, Aya Cash, Jessica Hynes, Billy Magnussen, Lolly Adefope, Darren Goldstein, Isaac Powell, Richard E. Grant and Daniel Brühl. “Veep” creator Armando Iannucci is an executive producer.

“The Great British Baking Show” is back for a new season and again trending on Netflix.

Known as “The Great British Bake Off” in the U.K., the beloved competition series returned for its 15th season on Sept. 24. Hosted by comedian Noel Fielding and television personality Alison Hammond, the show brings together 12 amateur bakers from around Great Britain compete for the title of “star baker.”

A new German show premiered on Apple TV+ on Oct. 2 with the release of the first two episodes.

“Where’s Wanda?” is a dark comedy about parents who decide to take matters into their own hands after the police fail to locate their missing teenage daughter. New episodes will be released every Wednesday.

One of the top shows on Hulu is the new ABC medical drama “Doctor Odyssey,” which premiered on Sept. 26.

Starring Joshua Jackson, the series follows a doctor who takes a job on a luxury cruise ship. Phillipa Soo, Don Johnson and Sean Teale play his colleagues, while a number of famous faces make guest appearances ― including John Stamos, Shania Twain, Kelsea Ballerini, Rachel Dratch,Gina Gershon, Laura Harrier, Cheyenne Jackson and Chord Overstreet.

“The Legend of Vox Machina” returned for a third season on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 3.

The adult animated fantasy series is an adaptation of the popular “Dungeons & Dragons”-themed web series “Critical Role.” As with the previous seasons, the 12 episodes will be released in batches of three for four weeks.
