Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD crosses Rs 200 crore mark in Hindi in India | Hindi Movie News

As Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD enters the second week , it sets new benchmarks for south language films in India. The film in the first week, entered the 100 crore club in Hindi language, in just four days and by the end of the second week, the film has now entered the 200 crore club.

By the end of the first week, Kalki 2898 AD had earned about Rs 414 crore in India, of which Rs 162.5 crore came from Hindi.In the second week, the film was supposed to clash with Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha, but the latter moved ahead, giving a free run to Nag Ashwin’s mythological futuristic sci-fi film. During the second weekend, the film on Friday earned Rs 9.4 crore in Hindi, but on Saturday the film witnessed a near 100 % jump to earn Rs 18 crore, and on Sunday, it collected Rs 22 crore,thus taking the weekend collection to Rs 49.4 crore, and the overall Hindi numbers to Rs 211.9 crore. Now, the overall collection of the film now stands at Rs 507 crore, with only Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 and Akshay Kumar Sarfira, releasing next week. With that, the numbers of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer are only set to rise.
Earlier, in an exclusive interview with ETimes, director Nag Ashwin opened up about the sequel of the film, he said , “ We have a story and we will need to write and strengthen it. But it would have issues which are different from part . Part one was coming completely fresh off the rack, like nobody had any expectations from a sci-fi film. They didn’t know what sci-fi mytho was, they didn’t know what our world was, who’s Supreme Yaskin was. So we had to spend a lot of time setting things up. We had that fear also, what if people don’t understand? So maybe we spent a little more time setting things up. All of those things were very specific to part one. But once part two comes, people are already invested in our world, they’re going to come in even without a trailer, they’re going to turn up on the first day. So I know that we have to do, we have to solve different problems in part two.”
