Hulu may not dump a host of new titles on us every month, but it makes it count with the major releases it does queue up.
The most intriguing of its January premieres is perhaps FX’s “The Beauty,” a body horror thriller, co-created by Ryan Murphy, set in the world of high fashion, high cheekbones and high self-esteem, thanks to a miracle beauty drug with wicked results. The cast includes Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope.
Another anticipated release is “Tell Me Lies,” which returns later this month with two episodes to kick off its third drama-filled season.

Steven Knight’s brutal historical drama is back, following London’s underground boxing world in the East End in the 1880s. Set one year later, “Hezekiah (Malachi Kirby) is a shadow of the man he once was, whilst Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham) is estranged from his family and drinking himself to death,” the synopsis reads. “Just as Wapping is about to sigh its last breath, Mary Carr (Erin Doherty) bursts back into town with her loyal second, Alice Diamond (Darci Shaw), to reassemble her gang and reclaim her crown. As always, Mary has a plan, one which will involve all those she holds dearest. And this time it’s riskier than ever.”
The Season 2 cast also includes James Nelson-Joyce, Hannah Walters, Nadia Albina, Morgan Hilaire, Jemma Carlton, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Jason Tobin, Susan Lynch, Daniel Mays, Gary Lewis, Aliyah Odoffin, Robert Glenister, Ned Dennehy and Catherine McCormack.
The drama surrounding Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen’s (Jackson White) tumultuous romance isn’t any less toxic in Season 3 of “Tell Me Lies.” The new season picks up with the pair rekindling their relationship just in time for the spring semester at Baird College. And even though they promise things will be different this time, mistakes from the past threaten their best intentions. Meanwhile, the disastrous fallout from the previous year forces Lucy and Stephen’s friends to also face their own scandalous behaviors.
The series also stars Cat Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Alicia Crowder and Costa D’Angelo.
Ryan Murphy is taking us on yet another wild ride with his latest twisted thriller, “The Beauty,” where a hot new super drug makes anyone who takes it stunningly beautiful. But of course, there are side effects, which tip off agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) when international supermodels start dying in gruesome and mysterious ways.
“As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences,” the synopsis states. “Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of ‘The Corporation’ (Ashton Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed ‘The Beauty’ and will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire. As the epidemic spreads, the agents race to stop a threat that could alter the future of humanity.”
The show’s cast includes Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope, along with guest stars Bella Hadid, Isabella Rossellini, Ben Platt, Jessica Alexander and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Just when you thought the world knew all there is to know about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., comes “Hoops, Hopes & Dreams,” an inspiring, untold story about how the civil rights leader used his powerful influence to spark generational change.
Directed by Glenn Kaino, the short documentary recalls how Dr. King and a group of civil rights activists turned to basketball to inspire civic engagement among young voters, tracing the impact on contemporary politics — most notably through former President Barack Obama’s historic campaign.
