Alia Bhatt has emerged as a prominent international figure, not just as an actor but also as an entrepreneur and fashion icon.
In a recent interview with the Economic Times, Alia shared insights into what has contributed to her global appeal. When asked about transitioning from a Bollywood star to an international personality, Alia emphasized the importance of emotion in transcending language and cultural boundaries.She noted that emotional depth in her roles has allowed audiences worldwide to connect with her performances.
Alia explained that it’s tough to pinpoint what factors worked. But she has always believed that when someone is talking about international appeal, they are talking about something that transcends language and boundaries.
She said, “The answer to that for me is emotion, which transcends wide and far. When I’m consuming Korean, Malayalam, or German content, I’m not focusing on the language. I’m connecting with the basic story and emotion it conveys. I have been very fortunate early in my career to get roles that offer a vast variety of emotional depth to play with. When I’m playing a character, I get very involved in it. My intention is always to go for different characters, and hopefully, that has come across to the audience.”
She further said that she wouldn’t want to be contained into a specific type of film. She said, “I challenge myself to see if I can do different kinds of films.”
Alia also shared how she often chooses challenging roles, citing her experience with ‘Udta Punjab‘ as an example. Despite initial skepticism from peers like Abhishek Choubey, she found the role’s challenge appealing. She believes that offering a “buffet of emotions” in her films helps her connect with audiences on a deeper level.
