Stranger Things recently had some quirky development, thanks to none other than Weird Al Yankovic. The much-adored musician has fueled rumors about his potential appearance in the upcoming season.
Weird Al shared a snapshot on Instagram, which quickly caught the attention of fervent Stranger Things fans. The musician was seen alongside Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo, who play Mike Wheeler and Dustin Henderson in the Netflix series, respectively. The caption under the photo read:
Yesterday was pretty bizarre, but stranger things are happening today.
This isn’t the first nod the show has made towards the parody artist. In the fourth season, Dustin proudly wore a t-shirt adorned with Weird Al’s face, a clear indication of his fandom. The musician himself has acknowledged this subtle tribute in the past, making his potential cameo seem all the more fitting.
Currently filming in Atlanta, Stranger Things Season 5 is looking to deliver more supernatural mysteries and character-driven drama. With Weird Al’s possible inclusion, viewers might see him appear as himself, which would provide a delightful twist for fans and a full-circle moment for the show.
As the hit Netflix series prepares for its final season, David Harbour, who portrays the role of Chief Hopper, shared his conviction to give fans a finale that lives up to the escalating hype the series is receiving now. In an interview with ComicBook, the actor didn’t shy away from setting high expectations. He said:
“I’m gonna just make a bold statement. Each year, it feels like the show’s getting bigger and bigger and more exciting. And we have a real responsibility to knock it out of the park in the final season. So if we don’t, give me all of your fan rage. Write the petitions. Go ahead, do it.”
“Because I’m going down there next week to start and I’m going to pour my whole heart into this thing,” Harbour continued. “I’ve read some of the scripts and in my mind, they’re stunningly beautiful. It’s time. We’re going to knock it out of the park. We’re going to deliver you the finale that you need, that you want, that I want.”
The Duffer Brothers, the series creators, mirrored Harbour’s sentiment. The brothers recently opened up about their pitch for the final season to Netflix, which they revealed was emotionally charged enough to move the typically stoic executives to tears.
With Stranger Things coming to an end in 2025, let’s see how far the main cast has come in their careers since season 1.
Speaking with TheWrap, Ross Duffer reflected on the emotional weight of concluding a series that has significantly defined their careers and impacted their lives.
“We do have an outline for season 5 and we pitched it to Netflix and they really responded well to it. I mean, it was hard. It’s the end of the story. I saw executives crying who I’ve never seen cry before and it was wild. And it’s not just to do with the story, just the fact that it’s like, Oh my God, this thing that has defined so many of our lives, these Netflix people who has been with us from the beginning, seven years now, and it’s hard to imagine the journey coming to an end.”
