Sonakshi Sinha reveals the one thing she’s learnt from her father Shatrughan Sinha, says she’s more confident as an actor post ‘Heeramandi’ – Exclusive | Hindi Movie News

Sonakshi Sinha is getting a lot of love for her role as Faridan in ‘Heeramandi‘. The actress has come a long way ever since she started her career with Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’. However, Sonakshi has always been different ever since she made her debut. Once, she had said that being different is what worked for her father Shatrughan Sinha, and that’s what has worked for her as well.In a recent interview with ETimes, we reminded Sonakshi of that statement and asked her if it has required a lot of gumption to own up being different and here’s what she had to say.
The actress said, “Something which I’ve learnt from my father is that, if you do anything with confidence, you will get away with it. (Laughs).” Sonakshi further added, “It’s just the matter of that. If you’re not convinced, people will not be convinced with what you’re doing. There have been a lot of characters I’ve played which didn’t come naturally to me but you have to play them with conviction. For that matter, even Fareedan in ‘Heeramandi’. I don’t relate to her at all. But I went in with a certain level of conviction and I embodied her. I became her.”
During the same interview, Sonakshi told us how she’s never been at home, despite having back-to-back flops in her career. So, she’s always been confident that way. We asked her if she has faith in the fact that despite the wait and lean phases, a good actor will always find its way and Sonakshi agred completely. She added, “A good actor is timeless, whether their films work or don’t work. There was a phase when my films didn’t do that well but I was never sitting at home. I was always working. A good actor is always looking for a filmmaker to portay them in a way the world has not seen them.”

She further thanked directors who saw her in a different light. “I’m so thankful to Reema Kagti, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vikramaditya Motwane, who saw me in a film like ‘Lootera‘ when I was just doing commercial films. AR Murugadoss suddenly made an action film with me, portrayed me in a very strong light and since then, I’ve changed in terms of the roles I pick.”
Having said that, she’s more confident after ‘Heeramandi’. “It was a very grueling set. Sanjay sir is someone who challenges you and pushes you to be the best version of yourself, and I think that is what he has done to me. I’m much more patient, confident and much more resilient. I worked with such an amazing cast of women; I got to learn so much from them. So, definitely yes.”
