Stock market closes in green, Sensex rose 140 points at 77,478.93, Nifty above 23,550

Stock market today: The stock market ended on a positive note on Thursday, despite mixed global cues, the BSE Sensex gained by 172.75 points, ending the day at 77,478.93, while the NSE Nifty rose up by 62.85 points to settle at 23,578.85.
Hindalco, Grasim Industries, JSW Steel, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and AdPorts were among the major gainers during the trading session, and on the other hand, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Sun Pharmaceutical, HDFC Life, and NTPC were the major laggards.
Although the market opened on a flat note, it gradually gained strength throughout the day. The broader market participated in the rally, with mid-cap and small-cap indices showcasing better performance compared to their large-cap counterparts.
The Indian equity benchmark indices, traded flat in the opening session, after hitting record highs in the previous session, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed at 77,554.83, while NSE Nifty was trading at 23575.
Sensex experienced an upward trajectory during the early trading hours, gaining 250.72 points to reach 77,588.31. Similarly, Nifty rose by 71.7 points, touching 23,587.70.
