BENGALURU: Twelve cutting-edge startups from India and the European Union showcased their innovative solutions in electric vehicle battery recycling at a special matchmaking event organised under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council Working Group 2.
“The startups, shortlisted through a rigorous process, covered the entire battery recycling value chain from collection to extraction of valuable minerals.Indian participants included Lohum, LW3 Pvt Ltd., BatX Energies, Evergreen Lithium Recycling Pvt Ltd., Metastable Materials Pvt Ltd., and CENALL Waste Management LLP. EU startups featured were Alterity, Ecomet Refining, Eneris, Primobius, RockTech, and Tozero,” a statement issued Thursday read.
The event aimed to promote sustainable innovation, foster India-EU economic ties, and facilitate potential collaborations. It commenced with opening remarks from the Indian Ambassador to EU and the EU Ambassador to India, followed by Principal Scientific Adviser Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood and EU’s Director-General for Research and Innovation Marc Lemaitre.
“This platform brings together the best recycling technologies, promoting exchange, networking and investments. The awarded exchange visit will enhance insights into the EV ecosystem in both regions,” Prof Sood said.
Lemaitre stressed on the importance of an innovation-driven India-EU partnership, calling it a “significant carbon-win for our environment.”
Three startups from each side will be selected for a week-long market immersion visit to the EU and India respectively, enabling direct stakeholder engagement, exploring collaborations, and understanding local markets. The matchmaking event marks a key action under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council’s Working Group on Green and Clean Energy Technologies, reflecting both partners’ commitment to sustainable development.
