Bengaluru: In a recent town hall, Amar Shetye, the global operations head of TCS‘s resource management group (RMG), revealed that the company has 80,000 open positions and they’re yet to fill those roles due to a yawning skills gap.
Shetye mentioned that there is a mismatch between the skills possessed by employees and the roles in demand. RMG is responsible for allocating resources to projects, and in the event of a shortfall, they fill those requirement through contractors.
An employee who attended the townhall anonymously shared with TOI that, “We were told that either skillsets or employee aspirations are not matching project requirements.” TCS did not respond to TOI’s email seeking comment till the time of going to press.
