BENGALURU: A 65-year-old retired BMTC bus driver killed his paralysed wife, 60, by strangling her with a rope and later ended his life by hanging at his Chikkagowdanapalya residence in south Bengaluru on Dec 2.Venkatesan R was disturbed over his wife Baby M’s health condition, sources said. Their son, Arun Kumar V, 39, told police his father had, over the past two years, repeatedly threatened to first kill his mother and then take his own life.Venkatesan’s wife was paralysed the same year he retired five years ago. She was unable to speak and was confined to a wheelchair. He used to regularly argue with his family that he was unable to see his wife in that condition.
Venkatesan was to pick up his grandson from school. However, around 11.45am, he called Arun’s wife and asked her to bring their son home instead. Arun’s wife works as a cook. She returned home with her son at 12.45pm to find Venkatesan hanging and her mother-in-law dead on the wheelchair with marks on her neck.Venkatesan strangled his wife with a nylon rope and used the same rope to hang himself, said police. He did not leave a death note. A case has been registered at Subramanyapura police station.
