NEW DELHI: Polling for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election in Punjab on Tuesday saw a voter turnout of 60.95%, slightly lower than 65.81% recorded in the 2022 assembly elections. Polling remained peaceful across 222 booths, with votes scheduled to be counted today.Counting is underway:SAD candidate Sukhwinder Kaur is leading by 1480 votes after two rounds.AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu leading after four rounds.After 8 rounds of total 16, ruling AAP’s Harmeet Sandhu is leading by 3668 votes.After 9 rounds, AAP’s Harmeet Sandhu is leading by 5510 votes.Independent candidate Mandeep Singh Khalsa, backed by Amritpal’s SAD (Waris Punjab De) and other anti-Badal factions, is currently in third place, ahead of both the Congress and the BJP.After 12 rounds, with a total 32520 votes, AAP’s Harmeet Sandhu leads by 10236 votes, SAD’s Sukhwinder Kaur at number two with 22284 votes. Mandeep Singh Khalsa at number three with 14432 votes. Congress candidate Karanbir Singh at number four with 11294 votes and BJP candidate Harjit Singh Sandhu at number five with 4653 votes
