President Donald Trump over the weekend raged against a TV personality yet again, this time directing his wrath toward “Late Night” host Seth Meyers.
“Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television,” Trump griped on his Truth Social website on Saturday. “In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise.”
Trump apparently caught Thursday night’s show, in which Meyers mocked the president for complaining about the catapults used to launch aircraft on Navy carriers, saying he wants to bring back steam-powered catapults instead of the newer electromagnetic systems.
“Guy spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote,” Meyers cracked. “Next, he’s gonna start complaining about how our troops don’t tie themselves to rockets anymore.”
Meyers also got serious for a moment and explained the difference between the two systems, noting that it would cost billions to go back to steam.
Trump clearly didn’t like the segment.
“On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic. Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this???” Trump wrote, then shifted to all-caps “NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”
Trump also attacked Meyers in August, calling him a “dope” and threatening to “find out” about his contract with NBC.
Trump has a long history of attacking late night TV hosts for making fun of him. During his first term, Trump reportedly tried to have Disney, the owner of ABC, censor Jimmy Kimmel. He celebrated Kimmel’s suspension last month, then threw a fit when ABC put him back on the air.
Over the summer, he also celebrated the news that Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” would be canceled and predicted that the other late night shows would be next.
