GURGAON: Patrons at a city pizzeria on Tuesday night were in for a surprise when a familiar face, but one they least expected to see there, walked in. Leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi had decided to make a stopover at da Susy’s. Rahul was accompanied by two friends at the pizzeria’s Crosspoint Mall outlet at 8.30pm. Instead of the usual white, Rahul sported a peach T-shirt. The pizzeria’s owner Susanna Di Cosimo told TOI Rahul behaved like any other customer. “We have 11 tables that were occupied when he came. I can’t reveal to you if he had prior reservations or made a surprise visit but he waited patiently. He had salad, margherita pizza and Coke. The staff informed me he was here for around 45 minutes, enjoying his meal, interacting with the staff and other customers. He was like any other customer and came across as a down to earth person,” said Susy, who was not in town on Tuesday.According to sources, no one in Congress was aware of this visit as Rahul was not on a political trip. “None of us knew he was coming to Gurgaon. While he had his security with him, Gurgaon cops were also around. He obliged fellow customers with selfies inside the restaurant as well as those in the mall,” said a party source. PCC spokesperson Manish Khatana, who reached the restaurant to meet Rahul, said the Haryana election result was discussed. “I got to know from someone that he was at the restaurant and I rushed to meet him. We had a brief discussion about the election result and I requested him to examine the ‘vote chori’ here as well,” Khatana said.
