The No. 1 Oregon football team defeated defending national champion Michigan Saturday in The Big House, 38-17.
The Ducks (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) got out to a big lead, going ahead 28-10 at halftime before doing just enough to defeat the Wolverines (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) to stay undefeated on the year.
Quarterback Dillon Gabriel connected on 22 of 34 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown plus another on the ground. Running back Jordan James had 23 carries for 117 yards and a score, and backup tailback Noah Whittington had 36 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Senior receiver Traeshon Holden was another standout, totaling 149 receiving yards on six catches for the Ducks.

The Ducks salted away the clock, then scored a touchdown with under 30 seconds remaining to secure their ninth-straight victory. Jordan James plunged in from just a few yards out for the game’s final touchdown.
Ducks get crucial fourth-down stop near the goal line
After Michigan drove all the way to the Oregon 10-yard-line, the Ducks got off the field with a critical fourth-down stop, and hold on to a 31-17 lead with 7:24 left in the fourth quarter.
Senior OL Marcus Harper II goes down with an injury
Following an incomplete pass by Dillon Gabriel, senior offensive lineman and starting left guard Marcus Harper II went down on the field and was attended to by Oregon medical staff for an extended period. Harper eventually got up and walked off the field without help. Harper was rolled up on as he was pass blocking for Gabriel.
Sophomore Kawika Rogers came in for Harper.

The Ducks lead the defending national champions by two touchdowns heading into the final 15 minutes of the game. Michigan faced third-and-8 from its own 27-yard-line to start the frame.

Atticus Sappington kicked a 26-yard field goal with 36 seconds to go in the third quarter. The Ducks had first-and-goal at the Michigan 10 before their drive stalled at the 8.

Davis Warren threw a 6-yard TD pass to Peyton O’Leary at the 7:09 mark of the third quarter. On the drive, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland had three catches for 55 yards, including a 20-yarder to the Ducks’ 6-yard-line.

Quarterback Dillon Gabriel ran 23 yards untouched into the end zone with 35 seconds left in the first half.
Big play nullified by Oregon penalty
Evan Stewart made a spectacular soaring, one-handed catch in the back of the end zone from 34-yards out but the touchdown was nullified by an illegal man downfield penalty called on offensive lineman Marcus Harper II.

The Wolverines kicked a 38-yard-field goal with 1:51 to play in the half.

Noah Whittington scored his second TD of the game on a 6-yard run with 4:19 to play in the first half, capping a 94-yard drive. The Ducks got into scoring position thanks to a 38-yard reception by Traeshon Holden that put the ball at the Michigan 6.
Tez Johnson out for the game
The star wide receiver is on the sideline in street clothes and won’t play again today. Johnson left the game in the first quarter after an 11-yard catch. He is Oregon’s leading receiver this season with 64 catches for 649 yards and eight TDs.

… and this one was field by receiver Evan Stewart, who made a fair catch at the Oregon 13. Starting punt returner Tez Johnson has left the game with an injury and Ryan Pellum fumbled on his return in the first quarter, leading the Wolverines’ score.

Noah Whittington scored on a 1-yard run at the 14:30 mark of the second quarter as Oregon retakes the lead. The score went to video review before it was confirmed. The TD was setup by a 20-yard catch-and-run to the goal line by Terrance Ferguson.

The Ducks have outgained the Wolverines 102-34 and have the ball at the Michigan 21 when play resumes.

The Wolverines take advantage of the Oregon turnover with a touchdown on their ensuing drive as Tyler Morris catches a 7-yard pass in the end zone to tie the score with 1:31 to play in the first quarter.

Punt returner Ryan Pellum, who was filling in for the injured Tez Johnson, fumbled a return that Michigan recovered at the Ducks’ 28-yard line.

The Ducks strike first on a 2-yard TD pass from Dillon Gabriel to Evan Stewart as Oregon took its opening drive 63 yards on 12 plays in 6:26 minutes to lead 7-0 at the 6:53 mark of the first quarter.

Oregon held Michigan to three plays on its opening drive. Derrick Harmon had a tackle for a loss on the first play to set the tone. Jordan Burch came in on third down for his first action since the Oct. 4 win against Michigan State.

Oregon’s Derrick Harmon looks to unleash havoc on old rival
Derrick Harmon is returning home with ill intent.
The Ducks‘ standout defensive tackle from Detroit — a first-year transfer from Michigan State — needs no motivation on Saturday.
It’s the Ducks’ first trip to The Big House since 2007.
The Wolverines were once Harmon’s archrival during his years in East Lansing, and those feelings haven’t gone away since his move to the West Coast.
“Don’t like them,” Harmon said earlier this week. “I’m gonna leave it there. Don’t like them.”
Oregon’s Burch, Ferguson set to play vs. Michigan
Oregon appears it will have two starters back in its lineup against Michigan as defensive end Jordan Burch and tight end Terrance Ferguson were not on the Big Ten Availability report issued by the conference on Saturday.
Burch has missed three straight games since getting injured in practice before the Ducks played Ohio State in Oct. 12. Ferguson has missed the past two games after getting his appendix removed a few days before Oregon played Purdue on Oct. 18.
Reserve offensive lineman Dave Iuli was also not on the availability for the first time this season.
No players were listed as questionable by Oregon.
Wide receivers Gary Bryant Jr. and Kyler Kasper, defensive backs Jahlil Florence and Khamari Terrell, offensive lineman Matthew Bedford and defensive lineman My’Keil Gardner are all out.
