BHOPAL: A 19-year-old boy, who was preparing for chartered accountancy exam, died allegedly by jumping off Bawadia Kalan ROB in Shahpura on Friday.
Moments before the incident, the deceased, Anil Golia, called his brother, asking him to take care of their parents. “I am leaving,” he told his brother, who rushed to the spot, but Golia had already jumped off the bridge.
He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The reasons behind his extreme step remain unclear, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
Investigation officer ASI SN Sahu said the deceased was a resident of Ishwar Nagar. His father, Mahendra Golia, works as a mason, while his elder brother, Ajay, is employed at a furniture showroom. On Friday around 1:30 am, Ajay returned home to find Anil missing.
He called his brother, who responded by asking him to take care of their parents and abruptly ended the call, saying he did not want to live anymore.
ASI Sahu said fearing the worst, Ajay launched a search for Anil. On his way back, when he reached the Bawadia Kalan ROB, a place Anil often visited, he found Anil lying injured under the bridge.
Ajay carried him to his scooter and informed their father. Together, they took Anil to a private hospital, but doctors referred them to a larger facility. They rushed him to AIIMS, where doctors declared him dead.
The family told police that Anil had no visible problems or issues leading up to the suicide. Further inquiries, including a review of Anil’s phone and statements from family members, are expected to shed light on the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
