TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 10, 2024 – South Florida men’s soccer (4-3-4, 2-2-0) returns home to face Memphis (6-4-2, 3-0-1) on Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will air live on ESPN+.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are on the hunt for their fourth straight home win. Memphis looks to stay undefeated in conference play. The Tigers have won or tied seven of their last eight matches.
SOUTH FLORIDA-MEMPHIS SERIES
Friday night is the 31st all-time meeting between USF and Memphis. The series extends back to 1984. The Bulls lead the Tigers all-time (18-7-5). The last clash was a 3-2 Tigers victory on November 5, 2023.
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida fell to in-state foe Florida Atlantic last Friday, 3-1. Mathis Haugen secured his first career goal in the 44th minute. Felix Schaefer matched a career-high eight saves.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Last Saturday, Memphis and Temple tied, 0-0. Goalkeeper Filip Sabatti finished the night with four saves, which marked his fourth straight shutout performance. Lleyton Imparato features a team-leading four goals.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.
The program also has a strong reputation within the professional game and boasts 30 MLS draft picks. Notable alumni include two-time MLS Golden Boot winner Jeff Cunningham, USA 1994 World Cup star Roy Wegerle, and 2013 MLS Cup winner Dom Dwyer. Men’s Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.
The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
