The Uttar Pradesh Government has given its approval to the development of a multi-storey, 32,000 square metre factory complex in Meerut which will now be constructed in Ved Vyas Puri, along the Meerut-Haridwar highway and close to the Delhi-Meerut highway.
“The project, overseen by the Meerut Development Authority, is moving forward, with work already underway on the detailed project report,” said government officials in Meerut’s Ved Vyas Puri on October 9, ET Retail reported. “The construction and development works are expected to be completed within 24 months, with construction potentially beginning by the end of November.”
The upcoming factory will be built with a range of technological features designed to enable manufacturers to follow the highest industry standards and to boost the development of Meerut and its surrounding areas. These will include plug-and-play infrastructure and modern trunk facilities.
“More than 40,000 goldsmiths, gemstone makers, and jewellers are part of the industry,” said the government officials. “Recognising the significance, the National Institute of Jewellery Technology was set up in Meerut in 2016. For a long time, the jewellery and gemstone industry in Meerut has been requesting the expansion of the traditional bullion market.”
