SLU Head Coach Bobby Barbier will welcome in 21 new Lions to Hammond, America for 2025
HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team has kicked off its fall practice ahead of the 2025 spring season, and does so with 21 new Lions prowling the diamond as head coach Bobby Barbier announces his recruiting class for this season.
The newcomers for 2025 include three Division I transfers, eight from the junior college ranks, and 10 freshman who were playing high school ball a year ago. Among the awards this 21-player class has earned are three junior college All-Americans, including a Gold Glove and National Pitcher of the Year award winner, two more All-Region players and an All-Conference honor winner. The new Lions coming from high school include four players who were listed in the top-500 by Perfect Game with three others in PG’s top-1,000 list.
“We are very excited about this group,” said Barbier. “I am so thankful for our staff and the time that they spent on the road putting this class together.”
The three players who are coming over from D1 institution are infielder-outfielder Ben Robichaux and right-handed pitcher Patrick Vienne, both of whom are coming over from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and outfielder Logan Walters, who transferred in from Jacksonville State.
From the junior college ranks comes infielder-outfielder Mo Little and infielder-outfielder Brady McGee (East Central), Giovanni Licciardi and left-handed pitcher Luke Barbier (Delgado), right-handed pitcher Blake Lobell and right-handed pitcher Nick Gisclair (LSU Eunice), right-handed pitcher Luke Lirette (Southwest Mississippi), and right-handed pitcher Tony Torres (El Paso).
The new Lions coming straight from high school are right-handed pitcher Truitt Webb (Paris, Tenn.), infielder Braxton Wakefield (Houston, Texas), right-handed pitcher Levi Shaffer (Keller, Texas), right-handed pitcher Brady St. Pierre (LaPlace, La.), right-handed pitcher Quinn Smith (Paulina, La.), left-handed pitcher Nik Toups (Lake Charles, La.), right-handed pitcher Braden Farizo (Bush, La.), left-handed pitcher-outfielder Brant Melancon (Baton Rouge, La.), right-handed pitcher Jacob Thorn (Gulf Breeze, Fla.), and infielder-outfielder Justin Domiano (Hammond, La.).
Fall practice ahead of the 2025 spring season is underway now. The 2025 Southeastern baseball season starts in mid-February.
