Giants Honor Pinelands High School Football Coach
This week one New Jersey high school got a very cool award and it happens to be in Ocean County. The New York Football Giants selected this week’s “Coach of the Week” and Head Coach Mr. John Tierney of Pinelands Regional High School (Little Egg Harbor, NJ) was named as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 4 of the 2024 season.
This is a great program that is run by the New York Giants and it helps area High School programs. According to the Giants website, “The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants’ continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes’ lives.”
Congratulations to Pinelands Regional High School Head Football Coach John Tierney. John and his family are from Bayville, New Jersey. John and his wife Kathy and their four kids: Olivia, Sean, Brooke and Liam are lifelong New York Football Giants fans.
According to the Giants “In recognition of Coach Tierney’s selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school’s football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and will be honored at a dinner following the season, as well as a 2025 pre-season home game.”
Very cool award for Coach Tierney. Both of my children attended school at Pinelands Regional and played Varsity sports for the Wildcats. Congrats again to the entire Pinelands family.
