HANOVERTON — Wellsville’s volleyball team held off a tough United squad in a 25-23, 30-28, 25-20 on Tuesday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action.
For the Tigers (10-3, 5-2 in the EOAC), Presley Stokes had 19 kills, three aces, 10 assists and nine digs. Myleigh Jackson had 12 digs and two assists. Aleena Owens had two aces and six digs. Maddie Drysdale had two blocks. Olivia Edison had two aces.
The Tigers trail Columbiana by two matches in the EOAC standings. The Clippers and Tigers have already played twice.
United fell to 7-9 and 6-3 in the EOAC. The Golden Eagles are at Columbiana on Thursday.
For the Eagles, Marin Stryffeler had eight digs and six points. Maelee Smith had nine kills and Aurianna Cusick had five aces.
Wellsville is at Union Local today. The Jets are ranked sixth in the Div. V state volleyball coaches poll.
Crestview 3, Brookfield 0
COLUMBIANA — Crestview, ranked second in Div. V in the latest state coaches poll, made quick work of Brookfield in a 25-4, 25-11, 25-7 win on Tuesday.
The Rebels are 14-0 and 10-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division. The Rebels lead the conference by one match over Garfield. The Rebels have won 38 straight regular season matches.
Lainy Auer led the Rebels with 14 kills and 10 assists. University of Pittsburgh recruit Abbey Emch added 13 kills, 11 aces and seven digs. Sophia Stewart had 17 assists and eight digs, while Natalie Blakeman had two aces and seven digs. Lydia Campbell had two kills.
The Rebels won the jayvee portion, 25-7, 25-2 to move to 14-0. Cambriauna Davidson had seven aces and seven assists for the winners. Addison Wendall had two aces, 12 points and five assists.
The Rebels will be back in action today at Austintown Fitch. That match will be broadcast live on MyYTV at 7 p.m.
Columbiana 3, Valley 0
COLUMBIANA –Columbiana kept its unbeaten mark in the EOAC alive with a 25-12, 25-9, 25-11 win over Valley Christian on Tuesday.
Columbiana is 14-1 and 8-0 in the league. The Clippers host United Thursday.
Ellie Jackson had four kills, six aces, 15 assists, 11 points and two digs for the Clippers. Ava Heinrich had two kills, 10 aces, 15 points and three digs. Kelsey Cameron had 11 kills, two aces, four points and three digs. Cameron Perkins had two kills, four aces, eight assists and 10 points. Danica Halas had two kills, four points and three digs. Landry Smith had five kills, while Hannah Hitchcock had six points and two aces.
Columbiana won the jayvee portion, 25-5, 25-1. Eva Waller had 22 aces and 37 points for the winners. Evy Rapp added six kills.
Columbiana’s freshman beat Youngstown East 25-14, 25-9. Rebecca Kloske had three kills, eight aces and 12 points for Columbiana.
Southern 3, East Palestine 0
SALINEVILLE — Southern Local rolled over East Palestine, 25-16, 25-17, 25-23, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday.
The Indians improve to 6-8 and will play at Lisbon on Thursday.
Gianna Pecorelli had nine points and two kills and Kennedy Lewis nine points and five digs for the Indians. Cheyenne Bennett had five points and 14 assists, Allyssa Shroads 10 kills and 14 kills, Cheyenne Buzzard seven kills, Kiah Sloan six kills and two solo blocks and Gigi Rodgers five kills and six blocks.
Elle Berger led the Bulldogs with seven kills and 17 digs, while Amara Wilson added 10 kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Alyssa Dilling contributed six kills, six digs and four points. Cami Kridler recorded six assists and six digs, and Kennedy Andre finished with 13 assists, four digs and five points.
Haylee Kellogg served 11 points in Southern’s 25-16, 25-21 junior varsity win. Randi Murphy had nine points and three aces for East Palestine, while Cadence Vargo added seven points and three aces.
East Palestine (6-7, 4-4 in the EOAC) will host Lisbon today.
Lisbon 3, Leetonia 0
LEETONIA — Leetonia scored the first two points, but it was all Lisbon after that as the Blue Devils posted a 25-9, 25-11, 25-21 win in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday.
Lisbon improves to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the EOAC.
The Blue Devils trailed for the last time at 3-2 and scored the next eight points to take control of the first game.
They also took an 10-3 lead in the second game.
Lisbon jumped ahead 5-0 and 20-9 in the third game.
For the Devils, Cheyenne Nez had seven kills and two blocks, while Stefanee Stacey had seven kills and nine assists.. Maddie Marshalek had six kills and two blocks. Bridget Newbold had four assists. Hannah Davis 6 digs.
Lisbon’s froshmore team won 25-18, 22-25, 25-20. Ariel Dickey had five aces for the winners. Lillian Tenzek had 16 points and five aces. Kyler Malone had three kills. Olivia Smith added two kills, while Sofia Brown and Brooklyn Dailey had four assists and four aces each.
Lisbon is at East Palestine today.
Salem 3, Newton Falls 0
NEWTON FALLS — Salem outlasted Newton Falls, 25-23, 35-33, 25-22, in varsity volleyball action Monday.
Crestview frosh
COLUMBIANA — The Crestview freshman volleyball team topped Howland, 25-12, 25-12, Monday.
The Rebels were led by Makayla McKee with 10 points, three aces and two kills and Lainey Milhoan two aces and three kills.
Crestview will play at Mineral Ridge on Thursday.
Salem JVs
ALLIANCE — The Salem junior varsity volleyball team beat Marlington, 25-8, 25-13 , Tuesday.
The Quakers were led by Kenna Mayhew with eight kills, Ryann Cross six aces and three kills and Macey Troy 16 assists.
Salem will host West Branch on Thursday.
