Michigan’s football team has one final nonconference tune-up before beginning Big Ten play Sept. 21 against USC. Arkansas State visits Michigan Stadium at noon Saturday, and the Wolverines will be looking to bounce back after an ugly 31-12 loss to Texas last week.

What to Know
The Wolverines are coming off their first regular-season loss since October 2021 — a dismal performance against a high-powered Longhorns squad. They hadn’t lost at home in front of a crowd since 2019, but Saturday is a chance to get back on track against an Arkansas State team that is 0-10 all-time against Big Ten opponents.
The Red Wolves are 2-0 but needed late scores to beat Central Arkansas and Tulsa in their first two games. Michigan’s offense hasn’t displayed much explosiveness in its first two games and has been held under 300 yards in each, but Arkansas State’s defense could be more susceptible. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said this week he wants the team to get back to effectively running the football, and Saturday is a prime opportunity against a run defense that has allowed 199 yards per game.
