Today is the final day of the Paris 2024 Paralympics! The final medals will be awarded in four sports – Para athletics, Para powerlifting, Para canoe and wheelchair basketball – before a fabulous Closing Ceremony brings the curtain down on the Games.
While it’s the last day, it’s not over yet. Here is everything you need to know about Day 11.
Marathon concludes Para athletics
Para athletics, the biggest sport on the Paris 2024 programme in terms of athlete numbers and events, will come to a close on day 11 with four marathons.
Swiss wheelchair racing stars Catherine Debrunner and Marcel Hug are looking to dominate in the women’s and men’s marathon T54, respectively, while Japan’s Misato Michishita is aiming to defend her gold medal from Tokyo 2020 in the women’s marathon T12.
After starting in Seine-Saint-Denis, the athletes will pass through the Place de la Concorde, which staged the Opening Ceremony, before competing in the Champs-Elysees and going around the Arc de Triomphe. The finish line is located in front of the Esplanades de Invalides.
Can the Netherlands defend their women’s basketball gold?
At Bercy Arena, the Netherlands and the USA will play for gold in wheelchair basketball. The Netherlands are the defending Paralympic champions, while the United States are aiming for their first gold since Rio 2016.
The Dutch team have not lost a single game in Paris, and they are looking to maintain their perfect record in the gold medal match. In the preliminary stage, the Netherlands defeated the USA 69-56. Can the Dutch do it again in the final?
China and Canada will play in the bronze medal match earlier in the day, with Canada targeting their first Paralympic podium since Athens 2004.

The ceremony will celebrate the accomplishments of the roughly 4,400 athletes from around the world who competed across 22 sports. The Paralympic flag will be handed over to Los Angeles, the hosts of the 2028 Games.
The Closing Ceremony is a must-watch for everyone, especially for those of you who enjoyed the stunning Opening Ceremony on 28 August.
